Dajeh (Day'zjah) is a new restaurant located in the Clinton Hill community of Brooklyn, New York.
It's cuisine can be called "Upscale Down-home", serving an eclectic mix of Carribean, Soul and Southern comfort foods.
Dajeh restaurant is big on taste in a cozy space.
The ambiance is warm and relaxing, with friendly service in an intimate setting.
In an interview with WhatzUpNY, Chef Norm (of the resorts in Negril, Jamaica) explained, "Working off the concept of Dajeh (which is like deja vu - but our take on it), what we are doing, we are making food that will take you back...this is what it feels like to eat at home..." "We're going for the home-feel, "momma's cooking" or grandma's cooking - with a West Indian twist" [and a magazine look]
Co-Owner Donald addressed the state of the economy: "The reason why our menu is so reasonable, we try to meet the community half way...we have to admit it - we are in a recession. We are trying to make everybody feel they can STILL have the life - grilled and dined after working 50, 40 hours a week. They can still come out and have some fun, be pampered with great food, great presentation and great service."
"...[Dajeh diners] can still enjoy a good meal in an upscale atmosphere at a reasonable price."
